is it ok to wash with benzoyl peroxide and astringent with salicylic acid? will that in flame my face?

Steven N replied: "ya i tried that i got like alot of ting bumps well just use the benzoyl peroxide wash and use moisturizer also go get alot of fresh air it helps."

mali kalo replied: "thats to much for your skin. use one or the other. you might find one works better then the other so figure out which one you like better and use that. the dryer your skin gets the more oil it will make because it cant make water when its dry so it makes more oil. so if you dry your skin out its just a vicious circle."

I have extremely oily skin. I use a cleanser with 5% benzoyl peroxide. Do i still need an astringent or a? toner with salycilic acid. Also, I used to have acne 2 months back and right now i am considerably acne-free. But i do break out when i am stressed. I want to avoid breaking out again and also i want to make my skin considerably oil-free. Will it dry out my skin too much if i use the benzoyl peroxide cleanser along with salycilic acid astringent or toner?

Acne Products- Benzoyl Peroxide and Salicylic Acid? My face wash has benzoyl peroxide but most astringents/toners have salicylic acid in them. Is it ok to use the two types of medication together? Should I only be using one product with a type of medication in it or can my cleanser, toner, and moisturizer all have some sort of medication in it?

re animated replied: "I would differentiate the products that you use into a routine, using one this day and the other the next."

Garfield replied: "Dude chill out, acne is God's way of giving ugly people a chance. If we didn't have acne all the ladies in the world would be ours so that wouldn't be fair to the less pretty people"

What is the difference between benzoyl peroxide and hydrogen? peroxide and which is more effective for use as a facial astringent?

normal_cody replied: "hydrogen peroxide is used to "boil" dirt and bacteria out of wounds. benzoyl perixide is a medicine made specifically to treat skin probs. definately the benzoyl is more effective."

roxy_gal6920 replied: "hydrogen peroxide is a colorless, unstable, oily liquid, H2O2, an aqueous solution of which is used chiefly as an antiseptic and a bleaching agent and benzoyl peroxide is a white, crystalline, water-insoluble, explosive solid, C7H5O4, used chiefly as a bleaching agent for flour, fats, oils, and waxes, and as a catalyst in polymerization reactions."

Is it safe to use an Acne Cleanser and an Astringent at the same time? Both products are from Clean&Clear. The Acne Cleanser has 10% Benzoyl Peroxide and the Astringent has 2.0% Salicylic Acid. I want to know is it safe to use both products at the same time morning and night with daily use?

Alex B replied: "It is safe but read the following from a subject matter expert. "When you scrub your face, you're taking off some of the protective oils and barriers, which tends to lead to rashes and even burns," says Sandy Johnson, MD, a board-certified dermatologist with Johnson Dermatology Group in Fort Smith, Ark. Instead, she says, use a gentle cleanser followed by a moisturizer or sunscreen. Skin Care Myth No. 5: It's better to get the pus out of a pimple by popping it. "The truth is, even though it feels really good to release [the pus], a lot of it just goes in deeper," says Johnson. "When it goes in deeper, it causes more inflammation that can lead to scarring and spread under the skin. That's why you'll get another one a few days later, close to the first one." Johnson says it's crucial that people stop picking at their faces. But if you absolutely cannot resist, she says, be sure and do it right. Don't squeeze and pop the inflammation. Instead, use something called a comedone extractor -- an inexpensive tool that can be purchased at most beauty supply stores. Apply firm pressure with the extractor, then roll across the pimple to take it out. Skin Care Myth No. 6: Facials and microdermabrasion are good for your skin care routine. This is a popular myth, says Bauman, especially with the proliferation of day spas. But a recent study from India concluded that facials actually cause acne breakouts in 80% of people, Bauman tells WebMD. "They feel good but have no long-term skin benefit beyond relaxation," she says. "Like microdermabrasion, which merely sloughs off the top layer of skin, they are a "complete and total waste of money.""

benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid? Can i use a benzoyl peroxide cleanser and then use a salicylic acid astringent and moisturizer? the products im planning on using are: Clean and Clear CONTINUOUS CONTROL® Acne Cleanser Clean and Clear Deep Action Exfoliating Scrub - Oil-Free Clean and Clear Deep Cleaning Astringent and Clean and Clear Dual Action Moisturizer I have moderate to severe acne. once in a while it would go away but come back. i also have scarring as well so if someone has any advice, ty. sorry jenney i dont use proper grammar when i rite informal questions online

Jenney replied: "um english? well I would use something for sensitive skin. Look for something WITHOUT rubbing alcohol in it♥"

Green Eyed Goddess replied: "Just maKe sure that you don't use to much product on your skin so that it won't dry out. I would use the Clean and Clear Moisturizer and the Continuous CONTROL. gET THE EXFOLIATING BUT MAKE SURE THAT YOU DON'T USE IT EVERYDAY."

drilla replied: "Benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid has be used as topical medication to help skin slough off more faster, which helps to remove bacteria. Both have side effects and can't be used daily. Acne are commonly caused by the blockage of skin pores with oil or dirty. If you don't keep your face clean all the time, the pore of skin could be clogged again with sebum or dirty and acne will be back. Use Chlorella Gel Cleanser to clean pores of skin and keep acne away. Unlike other cleanser made of surfactants, Chlorella Gel Cleanser is made of food green algae and can absorb oil out of pores of skin, and acne will disappeare in three days. No chemicals but faster than medication."

Is there such a thing as a Benzoyl Peroxide replacement? I've been using Benzoyl Peroxide on my acne for years and I have never connected it with the mysterious bleach-like stains that appear on my clothes. Until recently, I simply thought my washer was junk. After getting a new washer you can only imagine my surprise when the mysterious stains were still appearing. After doing some research, I found out that Benzoyl Peroxide was the culprit. I use salicylic acid treatments along with an astringent. I HATE the stains, but my face treatment seemed to be working. Is there anything I can buy INSTEAD of benzoyl peroxide that wont stain my clothes?!?!?!?! Please help!

ʎʇɐʞ replied: "yes, benzoyl peroxide can bleach clothing and sometimes hair. it can help to take some extra time to rinse your face after using the bp to minimize staining. there really isn't anything out there that would be the same as benzoyl peroxide minus the staining. salicylic acid is not a very good acne treatment because high levels of it are needed to be in contact with the skin for a long period of time to do anything other than dry out your skin. so, salicylic acid peels and things like that could be helpful, but cleansers, toners, and lotions containing it don't really do anything other than irritate the skin. retinoids can be effective in fighting acne, many are prescriptions. if you wanted, you could ask your doctor (you shouldn't need a dermatologist) about getting a retinoid such as retin-a micro, differin, epiduo, tazorac, etc."

Laura replied: "I've been in that situation and there is really nothing you can do about it. There are things you can do to try to reduce the blemishes and get rid of acne/pimples temporarily but you will always be finding yourself cleaning your face or your body depending on where it's at. I mean of course your acne should go away eventually but for some this is the case their whole life. I'm 29 years old and have been suffering from these little pests since I was a teenager. I tried all sorts of face washes from the local grocery store and what not, but nothing seemed to work. If anything it would just make my skin dry and itchy. Literally the best acne face wash I've ever used has been this stuff called clearpores. It has got rid of the acne to quickest and has been a success ever since I got it. It's unique cause of it's herbal supplement you take a long with it that helps your skin from the inside out. I saved money on it at skincleansingsystem.com at the time which was helpful. You should really look into this stuff and if you can to assure the best results, get the 3 month supply because if it doesn't work it will still save you butt on the return policy. Well good luck and best wishes."

What should I do about my skin? Using Benzoyl Peroxide, (bad?) effects are showing? I'm 16 years old. For a few years now, my skin hasn't been that great - namely, my forehead was covered with bumps that were either reddish in color or skin colored, it was kind of hard to tell, to be honest. Anyway, I used on a daily basis different products from Clean & Clear (and occasionally Neutrogena), like astringents, facial cleansers, the like. I had like 7 total, and I would use one of them in the morning and one at night. To be honest, they didn't help at all. Just a few days ago (Saturday, I think) I started using a new product from Clean & Clear - Persa-Gel 10, with 10% Benzoyl Peroxide. I put on a bit, mostly around the forehead area, once a day since then till today. Right now, I'm not really sure if I should continue or not. Besides my skin drying up a bit, which was expected, the skin on my forehead looks different - on one hand, the bumps are less prominent, but on the other hand, it seems as though there are suddenly many, many small bumps all over my forehead, all skin colored, and only a few of the bumps are more prominent. I'm kind of worried, since it doesn't look healthy - I'm worried my skin is getting ruined like this. Should I stop using the product? Should I start putting on some moisturizer, instead? I really can't tell if this is just the product, slowly getting rid of the bumps I had on my forehead and it's not done yet, or if this is me using it too often (I'm using it once a day) or just using it when I shouldn't be, and I should be stopping. Thank you for any help.

* biqqest nlt fan! :) replied: "i don't think you were getting results because you mixed and matched products a lot. stick to one regimen. anyway, maybe your skin is peeling?and you NEED moisturizer.if your skin is dry your face will over-produce oil, causing more breakouts. i recommend cetaphil, or clinique 3-step moisturizer[these are both VERY good]."

Megan replied: "hi i used the same kind of thing as you...and when i stopped it became much much better. Then i started using a skin cleaning thing and aloe vera jelly cream and it is much, much better. You can also try to stop eating Chocolate, lots of milk, and cool drinks and your acne will get much better. clay masks also help alot. bye"

What does it take to get facial skin clean? It seems like no matter what I try, I can't seem to get my facial skin clean enough. I scrub with hot water, a sponge and glycerin soap. I can scrub until my skin squeaks and feels raw. It makes no difference, because I still end up with a lot of grime on the cotton ball when I follow up with astringent toner. I use benzoyl peroxide cream after the astringent. What the devil does it take to get facial skin REALLY clean?

Just Me replied: "Start by washing face with plain warm water. It will open up your pores. Cold water will make your pores close up and you can't get as deep of a clean that way. Use Neutrogena Deep Clean Cream Cleanser. Apply to your entire face and neck. Leave it on there for a few minutes. Remove with a wet wash cloth and scrub your face a little while removing the cleanser. Follow up with toner."

Danielle replied: "Well, with all of the irritants you're using, no wonder you get so dirty! Hot water on your sensitive facial skin? Scrubbing hard until it feels raw? Be gentle. Try washing gently and thoroughly with warm water and a mild soap. Pay special attention to the chin, nose, and forehead. (also called the T-zone) Don't wash too often either. All that does is take away the protective oils of your skin away faster than they can reproduce. Without that last protecting layer, your pores will be open for all the dirt and grime to come and and cause blackheads, whiteheads, and grease. And maybe it's the toner that you're finding on the cotton ball; who knows? Try to skip the toner one night and check out the results. Good luck. P.S. If this is no help, try asking a professional dermatologist. Good luck!"
