DK replied: "Hi Scrappy
Here are remedies to help correct her health. Dont under estimate the power of these remedies.
Cause
Shingles can be due to chicken pox (in children), pleurisy, Bell`s palsy, herpes simplex, appendicitis, colic, gallstones, colitis, trigeminal neuralgia, or contact dermatitis. All of these conditions must be screened for and, if present, properly treated to provide lasting relief from shingles.
Caution: Shingles eruptions that last longer than two weeks can be a sign of underlying immune problems or cancer (particularly Hodgkin`s disease), and therefore require immediate medical attention. In addition, see an ophthalmologist immediately if herpes zoster occurs near the eyes or on the forehead, as it can cause blindness.

Natural Cures
Aromatherapy: Massage the essential oils of lemon, geranium, bergamot, eucalyptus, tea tree, lavender, or chamomile along the affected area.
Diet: Eat an organic, whole foods diet that emphasizes fresh fruits and vegetables and minimizes carbohydrates (avoiding refined carbohydrates and sugars altogether).
Flower Essences: Crab Apple.
Herbs: Combine equal parts of oat straw, St. John`s wort, and skullcap tinctures and take one teaspoon of this mixture four times a day. Peppermint oil applied topically can also help reduce pain, unless the skin is excessively dry, in which case it is contraindicated.
Homeopathy: Useful homeopathic remedies include Arsen alb., Rhus tox., Sepia, Natrum mur., Hepar sulph., Caladium, and Acidum nit.
Hydrotherapy: Hydrotherapy is the application of water, ice, steam and hot and cold temperatures to maintain and restore health. Treatments include full body immersion, steam baths, saunas, sitz baths, colonic irrigation and the application of hot and/or cold compresses. Hydrotherapy is effective for treating a wide range of conditions and can easily be used in the home as part of a self-care program. Many Naturopathic Physicians, Physical Therapists and Day Spas use Hydrotherapy as part of treatment. I suggest several at-home hydrotherapy treatments.
*Purified water is essential for any hydrotherapy treatment. Remedies for Treating Chlorinated Bath Water offers clear instructions and recommendations.
Juice Therapy: Drink carrot and celery juice with one tablespoon of parsley juice once or twice each day.
Nutritional Supplementation: At the first sign of outbreak, apply zinc oxide along the path of the affected nerve area two to three times daily. Other helpful nutrients include L-lysine, vitamin B-complex, vitamin B12, BHT, calcium, and high doses of vitamin C plus bioflavonoids. Topical application of vitamin E can also be helpful. Snake vaccine made from venom has also been known to take away the pain of shingles.
Topical Treatment: Apply apple cider vinegar to the affected area.
Alternative Professional Care
If your symptoms persist despite the above measures, seek the help of a qualified health professional. The following professional care therapies have all been shown to be useful for treating shingles: Acupuncture, Biofeedback Training, Detoxification Therapy, Energy Medicine (Light Beam Generator, Ondamed, TENS), Magnetic Field Therapy, Naturopathic Medicine, Neural Therapy, Orthomolecular Medicine (Vitamin B12 injections combined with adenosine monophosphate), Oxygen Therapy (Hydrogen Peroxide Therapy, Ozone), and Reflexology.
Best of health to you
Cheers"

How can I ask him if he has herpes? I found some ZOVIRAX (acyclovir) on his night stand.? I'm freaking out. I've been hooking up with this guy, and this morning I just opened his drawer because I was looking for something, he was not there. But then I saw some prescribed tablets of ZOVIRAX (acyclovir) for him. I saw two bottles, one from 2 years ago and one for like 8 months ago. Now, I don't know how to confront him without me appearing to be nosy. A friend told me that medication is also used for some other kind of outbreaks, but the old bottle said STD with pen. So I don't know what to make of it. I want to get tested, but this is too soon so If I have it it won't come up right away. Out of the 6 times, we've hooked up, it was always protected, until last night. But I'm thinking it's possible to get it with one time. Then again, I've never seen any sores or anything, but I know that even if sores are not there, if he has it, he still has the virus. Also, if I swallow his saliva will that pass the virus too?
How do I approach this?!!! Thanks
David P replied: "just ask for your protection"
RiskyRoulette replied: "Get tested for STIs (it isnt STD anymore) together. It'll make him feel better if you do too."
blackbird _fly replied: "I would just ask.
Keep in mind thought that Acyclovir can be used for regular cold sores as well as ulcers in the mouth, so maybe don't just automatically assume that he has an STD. I would just tell him that you saw the prescription bottles by accident, and you need to make sure for your own safety."
burgerlovin57 replied: "he is required by law to tell you ,, call the doctor from the bottle or go to the local county or free clinic he should be monitored never have unprotected sex with anyone not tested or willing to test you may have to sue him"
YoungRae93 replied: "wow! You need to leave him alone. I am not sure if the virus is passed through saliva but it is through bodily fluid (unprotected last night) It doesn't matter if you didn't see any break outs on him because the thing with this disease is that the symptoms come and go so he could have hooked out with you while his symptoms were gone but he till has the disease. That's not normal to find that kind of prescription med in his dresser/drawer. He most likely has it and I doubt hes keeping it for a friend. Run from him and don't turn back while you have a chance!
Good luck and get a test :)"
J replied: "Wow, You need to ask. Also you can contract it from a person even if he isn't having outbreaks.
Good Luck"
Whizzy replied: "Herpes is spread through skin to skin contact. It can be spread even without an outbreak through asymptomatic shedding. Using suppressives and condoms reduces the risk to about 2 %. You can't tell by looking if someone has a std. Always best to ask BEFORE sexual relations.
Since you found it go ahead and tell him. Good luck."
How Can I get rid of fever blisters? I have always gotten fever blisters since I was a kid. My doctor has prescribed me a topical ointment to put on them called zovirax. It helps, but not as quickly as I would like. Well this morning, I started out with one and now i have 6. They are so painful and so humiliating. Is there something that I am doing to make them spread? I was told to ask my dr for Valtrex....... and for any of you who want to relate this to the STD herpes and be hateful, please save it for someone else. Thank you!
Sue B replied: "Put an ice cube on it the minute you feel it begin, a tingle, go for an ice cube! Leave it on till the ice melts. Some creams actually cause more to come out. Ask your Dr. to prescribe something else."
TweetyBird replied: "Valtrex has unlabeled uses and the treatment of HSV-1 (what you have) is one of those uses. Speak to your prescribing physician about the advisability of switching you to Valtrex."
mrodrx replied: "Valtrex would be effective. The virus that causes fever blisters is very similar to the virus that causes STD herpes. There is a prescription ointment called Denavir that is also effective. Abreva is the best over the counter treatment for fever blisters. You should try Abreva for a day or two to see if that works. If it doesn't, call your doctor."
Pops replied: "As soon as I feel the blister starting and begging to turn red, and get itchy, start soaking it with Blistex. I keep a glob on it all time. Usually, it will never break out. Camphor is good and is used in the Blistex.
Eat lots of Pepperoncini Peppers. I used to have a little white sore in my mouth all time until I starting craving the peppers. After a couple of gallon jugs, over a period of time, I no long have them.
By the way, fever blisters (cold sores) area VERY contagious. Don't kiss anyone when they are broke out. They DO operate a lot like the STDs and are also a cousin. Good luck. Pops"
How do corticosteroids work? I've been having a major herpes basically all over my face and I was prescribed Alclometasone Dipropionate cream, which is a corticosteroid.
Surprisingly it helped and my herpes was soon gone in like 2 or 3 days completely.
Zovirax or other anti-virus creams did not help at all.
I was wondering how corticosteroids work and should they be prescribed to treat herpes?
Foxy Lady replied: "They help to relieve inflammation--the swelling that occurs. It doesn't cure it or anything, just relieves the redness/swelling."
I'm taking valtrex and zovirax for herps, need help to heal skin!? Ok, I'm not sure if I have herps, but I have some form of eczema all over my body and one particular one on my index finger. When I had the bubbles on my finger, they were huge, they got popped and they're now big flaps of loose skin. I been using what my doctor prescribed me with, but I don't know if the ointment will help with healing my skin. I'm wondering if I can use this skin aid thing from neutrogena along with the ointment. My index finger that got infected is on my writing hand, and it cant quite bend because of the loose skin, and I have to keep it in big bandages. I got the gmat in a few days and I'll have such a disadvantage if I can't write using my index finger. Anyone got any suggestions?
Craig replied: "talk to your doctor or call da ER!"
Anna B replied: "Ask your doctor before you use anything with a prescription, it might counteract any effects from the prescribed ointment.
You can use scissors or toe-nail clippers to trim away the dead flaps of skin (it would fall off eventually anyway), then use smaller bandages to cover any remaining sores. Might make it at least more bendable."
How good does Abreva really work? So i have been a chronic herpes simplex 1 sufferer since I was about ten. I get them about 1 to 3 times every three months. It totally sucks. My doctor prescribed me Zovirax the cream... it didn't work at all. When I was littler I believe I had Valtrex but it sucked too and it's very expensive. These days I use Campho Phenique which seems to work somewhat but I have not tried Abreva... and it is pricy for a tiny tube. Does it really work as well as I have heard or not? I have a million creams and none of them work... grr.. I mean I have two cold sores right now and I just want something that works!!!!
Lana K replied: "not that great."
TeriAnn replied: "Try earwax on the cold sores. - old remedy"
Joseph Y replied: "i use abreva but actually it doesnt work that great. try other remedys just like how teriann said and maybe it'll work
good luk ^^"
samq10 replied: "i use "Fletchers Sore Mouth Medicine" it has
Aluminium Potassium Sulfate & Potassium Chlorate in it - not sure if that particular brand is available where you live - but any pharmacy could show you something similar with the same 2 meds in it
the best / fastest way to clear them up i have found is to put Listerine mouth wash on a cotton ball & hold it on the cold sore for about 30 seconds.... then
put Blistex Medicated Lip Ointment - on the cold sore several times a day -
the Listerine burns - especially when the sore is healing - but i find it keeps them from spreading
Abreva i tried once - expensive & didn't work any better than the 2$ tube of Blistex - same with Zorvirax"
