When you lose weight, do your testosterone levels go down significantly? When you get down to a healthy weight do your testosterone levels go down at all? i.e; Do you stop growing hair on your chest, belly, and chin? Gynos and females with this problem/have had the same experience ONLY!

ksmudge3 replied: "No, actully excersizing and losing wieght increase testosterone levels. I would speak to a doctor about hormone treatments if you are worried about excess body hair."

does low testosterone in women make it hard to lose weight? i got blood work done and my doctor sent me a letter saying i have no testosterone in my body..i know this causes low sex drive..but does it also mean this could be the reason i have a hard time losing weight? does anyone else know what it does besides no sex drive!? Please help!!! thanks!

Yamster replied: "Yep, definitely makes it harder to lose weight. It decreases the amount of androgens circulating the bloodstream, which will really slow down the metabolism. Try and see if you have any thyroid problems, and make sure you get enough fat in the diet to speed up your metabolism (except trans fat or hydrogenated/partially hydrogenated oils). Your macronutrient ratio should be approximately 40% protein, 30% carbs, 30% fats."

Clay C replied: "yes"

testosterone injections will you lose weight on them? i was thinking about getting some for strength and to loose weight in the process does that happen or do you actually get fatter?

Anabolicrocha replied: "u would gain muscle weight and loose fat at a fast rate on that certain time ur on them but once u stop if u dont have a good pct (Post Cycle Therapy) u could go back to being the way u were or worse"

TESTOSTERONE and ESTROGEN? lose weight? Hey so im 16 and since I didnt have my period yet, I went to the doctor to figure out what was wrong. They checked and told me my testosterone levels were really high, so they put me on birth control pills for a month. I finally got my period and boobs grew and I feel like I am losing a little bit of weight or getting leaner. I always had low metabolism and had a hard time losing weight. But it feels like Im getting leaner. Does estrogen make a person lose more weight easier?

Sara replied: "Estrogen doesn't make a person lose more weight easier. :)"

John B replied: "Well estrogen is the female hormone. For some people yes, it can make you loose weight. Its completely normal. Peace."

^-^hey^-^ replied: "I don't think so. Estrogen is just a mood controller from what i heard."

Women: Hyperandrogenism (elevated testosterone) trouble losing weight? Anyone w/ hyperandrogenism (high levels of testosterone) or a similar hormonal imbalance, do you have trouble losing weight? I've been diagnosed with having high levels of testosterone and am on Sprinolactone to block the receptors, but not lower my levels. I was on dexamethasone but too much lowered my Cortisol and not enough didn't do lower my testosterone. Anyone w/ similar story or just have had trouble losing weight?

fidgetyphoenix replied: "I have PCOS therefore higher levels of testosterone. I find it 'so' hard to lose weight. I've tried so many diets Atkins, South Beach, Slim-fast etc. and have finally came to the conclusion that diets do not work! Long term anyway. I mean, I've lost weight on a few of them but always gained it all back plus more. What I have found that works best for me is walking. I've tried many fast paced workout video's but nothing has worked as well as just walking for at least 30 minutes a day about 5 days a week. It's a slow go but at least the scale goes down rather than up. :) I know it's beyond frustrating when your body works against you. I hope you find something that works for you soon. :)"

Does taking Testosterone make you lose weight? LMAO. Go to bed Joe, don't want to be late for that highschool drop out education job. your just pissed because your stupid and I don't want you, and I can lift more than you in the gym.

Slave O replied: "yes if your exercising it allows you to exercise longer and harder it allows quicker recovery if you increase your BMI through exercise you lose weight if you increase your muscle mass you lose weight it also has a slight effect of generally making it easier to lose weight"

joe_ananimity replied: "Idk, but taking testosterone doesn't make you a man. It makes you into a ugly woman who took testosterone. And if you get surgery, it makes you into a ugly woman who took testosterone and mutilated her body."

Alex H replied: "I think it does cause it helps your body build lean muscle easily so that you end up burning more fat. Of course, you have to work out. But that's why most older men tend to gain weight because their testosterone levels decline with age and they start losing muscle mass."

tbird replied: "Yikes! Glad I'm not Joe! I'm not entirely certain THT, I do concur with some of the other answers in regard to working out. I'm sure you're quite beautiful without messing with nature"

Rose Gently replied: "Yes. This is why men (who are, essentially, children who have taken testosterone since puberty) are, on average, lighter than women. err, that's not quote right somewhere."

♥ßƦęŋБΩ₦♥ replied: "No would be the basic answer. It can't make you lose weight but it can help. As a general rule it is easier for men to lose weight than women, this is because it is a steroid hormone. It gives you an enhanced libido, increased energy, increased production of red blood cells, production of muscle mass and protection against osteoporosis. When losing weight it is a well known fact that the more muscle you have the easier it is too lose the fat and since testosterone which causes more muscle mass is in males in about doses 60 times larger then women, men normally have more muscle. So it won't take the weight of you, but it will make it easier to lose. Good Luck! =)"

Cambria replied: "If you are a woman taking testosterone, it won't necessarily make you lose weight, but it will make it easier to develop lean muscle and the weight you have will shift. Rather than gathering around hips and chest it will tend to be around the stomach area."

Honey Bear replied: "if you are FTM it may, if you are overweight to begin with. But if you are biomale and taking it if you dont need it then no it probably wont do anything apart from make your testes shrink and give you man boobs."

prettymuch85 replied: "Well... traditionally, eliminating testosterone from your system leads to slowing your metabolism which can lead to weight gain for trans women. It's partially a function of testosterone itself, and partially due to loss of muscle mass. So while I can't say for sure, I'd imagine the reverse would also hold true for people introducing testosterone into their body chemistry."

will testosterone help me lose weight? 26 yrs male

Jessica replied: "no.... low testosterone will make you loose your hair"

Rachel replied: "no, it won't. it REALLY won't."

pe. bo replied: "If add artificial testosterone, your balls will shrinkle,on the other hand you will gain muscle-mass more easily. So the answer is no."

tennislover replied: "don't go near it... it will throw off the whole balance of your body..forget about it! just take supplments aside from that!"

Why does gaining a lot of weight lower you testosterone? Why does losing it increase it again? My friend used to be 5' 6" and weigh about 160LBs and was in great shape. Then he was then put on a medication and gained 50LBs in 1.5 years. Needless to say this had a negative impact on his overhealth health and energy, but he also noticed a decrease in Test. Now he is down to 180lbs and dropping. He feels like a man again. Why is the weight gain/loss affecting testosterone? Thanks

lichman replied: "if you google or wiki "testosterone" you will see that this is actually because testosterone itself makes you burn fat very quickly and increases your metabolism, and lack of testosterone can restabalize your metabolism. however, loss of weight via testosterone is often times useful weight, for example, around hips and fatty areas around joints like knees and elbows that help facilitate movement in those areas, as well as the fat behind your eyes which helps provide nutrients to them, so if he is feeling like losing weight through increasing testosterone i wouldnt recommend (since it can also cause sight problems, most all convicted criminals have statistically higher testosterone levels, makes you go bald, and can stunt growth)"

REVISED: Does losing weight lower testosterone? I want to know if losing weight lowers testosterone? How much generally, a little or a lot. Say 30 lbs? **Someone said that it has the OPPOSITE affect, so does that mean that losing weight would RAISE ESTROGEN? Please explain.

nemesis780 replied: "Losing weight does no affect testosterone dude."

Praire Crone replied: "I don't know about testosterone. But I do know that losing weight can up your sex drive!!! I have lost 100+ pounds in the last 10 months and I can honestly say that my sex drive has exploded!!!!!! Good health means good sex.... It is common sense."

If I take testosterone will i finally lose my hips, boobs and butt and get the boyish figure i dream of? i have a very curvy figure and after losing weight my hips, boobs, and butt will not go away. i don't want to BE a man but i thought if took a little testosterone will my hips, butt, and boobs reduce in size?? id like to have a more boyish figure

Green Day love replied: "Yes it will."

cymone95 replied: "Im have a boyish figure and i wld kill to have ur body type .Be comfortable with ur self because u might get what u wish 4"

m00nlight_470 replied: "I think so"

Christina W replied: "testosterone, no it will not. it will make them stop growing but they will not go away. it will make you grow facial hair sweat like a man smell rather bad. the only way you can do what you want is to work out."

Texas RN replied: "Without knowing what "your" normal testosterone levels are (in your blood) then you might run the risk of acquiring too much testosterone. This can cause HUGE health problems...and even trigger some cancers. Besides running the risk of growing facial and body hair, acne (both on your face and on your body), sterility, etc. NOT a good idea to mess around with hormones."

John C replied: "taking testosterone could turn you into a freak!!!!! maybe you should just eat alot of protien and wieght lift"

Jonsey replied: "Many people find a curvacoius figure really attractive but If your haviung trouble shfting weight you could go to a gym and ask one of the trainers excersizes that would help redude weight on certain areas. Taking tesosterone is a bad idea as it will make you grow more hair + (esp facial hair) and sweat more It will make you more masculine."
