Does Tramadol (Ultram) 50 mg have any fever reducing effect or can Tylenol be taken in conjunction with this? I have a horrible case of strep throat and my doctor didn't prescribe any pain medicine. So, I took 50 mg Tramadol (Ultram) that I had already to help with the throat pain. I have a fever now and need to know, does Tramadol have any fever reducing effects or should I go ahead and take some Tylenol in conjunction with it?

Crouching Doggie replied: "Be sure that it's not Ultracet, but if it's truly Tramadol 50 mg, then yeah, by all means take tylenol with it as the tramadol will not help your fever."

a.pasternak replied: "Tramadol does not aid in reducing a fever but you should consult a pharmacist or doctor before combining it with Tylenol"

aneurodoc125 replied: "Tramadol is a synthetic narcotic. It has no effect on fever. Warm saline gargles, help, Chloraseptic lozenges and gargle help. The doctor can give you viscous lidocaine to gargle with for pain."

what would be the effects of taking tramadol 50 MG? on a person who didnt need it (was not perscribed it)? what about taking more than one 50 mg pill?

shamsa a replied: "If the person is an epileptic patient then it is contraindicated as it can precipitate seizures . Other effects include nausea and vomiting . No effects would be observed on cardiovacular or respiratory system unlike other opiod drugs :)"

MP replied: "you'll get a little pain relief. If you take 3-4, you will feel really nice. I take tramadol regularly. They can get you high, like as pain killers can. It acts on your brain like an opiate does. Wikipedia has great information on it. The first time I took 4, me and a friend both did. We felt really warm and "floaty" i guess and felt like laying down and listening to music."

I was taking 10 mg percocets for lower back pain, now my doctor switched me to 50 mg of tramadol, how is this? I was taking 10 mg percocets for lower back pain, now my doctor switched me to 50 mg of tramadol, how is this? I was taking 10 mg percocets for lower back pain, now my doctor switched me to 50 mg of tramadol, how is this? The percocets worked fine for me but after 2 years they seem to be getting strict on giving percs out. Thay also relaxed me to tell you the truth. I am a very stressed person and the narcotic buzz wrked well for me as well as allowing me to work. I was wondering hw the tramadol will work. Do you get high, relaxed like oxycodone or no. If so how many mg of tramadol will it take to eqaul a 1 mg perc. Is tramadol a narcotic, opite? I have severe aniexty and the percs seemed to help more than vauil or ativan. they just relaxed me and like i said relieved the pian but my doc is a prick. I have been to foriegn countries, Mexico, Canada, France and if you are in pain the goverment doesnt control and watch the doctor like this country. Its BS. We pay outragous medical insurance rates but cant get medicine when needed. I told my doctor it easier t get med i need on the street that form him, which is rediculous. I have severe back issues and hate the shots they want to gove me, chiro has done nothing and pain management also sucked. I had to pay a co pay 3 times a week to get treatment. I cant afford that or all that time off work when all i need is what he ha me on 10 mg percs. I cant see the problem gettn g med you need these days, yet they will give you all these pyscotropic drugs like candy, riddlin, Zoloft, ect with i think is worst for you

ladyindica replied: "Apparently your doctor is concerned that maybe you have become addicted to Percocet, which is EXTREMELY easy to do, and as your doctor he has to do something about that. From your letter it sounds like maybe you have become addicted, especially since you've stated you like and are seeking the "high" and the relaxing qualities of the drug. You wouldn't be the first person to start seeking drugs on the street because you couldn't get them from the doctor any more. The graveyards are full of people like that."

sharon g replied: "i have been taking tramadol 50mg for 1 year now for fybrmyalga and also for a knee injury 2 winters ago, if it was not for tram i would not be able to go to work and do all the walking that i do ,i love it and it perks me up very well good luck"

novice replied: "Get off the painkillers as long as you still got a chance because both of them are addictive. I know plenty of people who are addicted to painkillers and trying to get off them seems to be horrible. If you have chrinic lower back pain and conventional medicine doesn't help you might want to consider the holistic approach or chiropractice. I have serious athritis but instead of taking celebrex every day do I only take one if it is absolutely necessary--drug companies want you to be addicted because that means more money for them--just like cigarette companies want smokers to be addicted--because that's more money for them.....I realized a long time ago what is going on with these drugs and decided that even though I pay only 3 bucks for any prescription that I was better off spending my money on natural supplements and stay healthy---so, try to get off that stuff and good luck..."

bluebird replied: "Have you ever had the shots? If the physician uses a florascope and you complete the three series of injections you may get some relief. Have you ever discused a muscle relaxant with the physician? The needle is the size used on premature babies, ask to be put under it is easier. Best source of info for comparsions with meds is to ask to a pharmacist."

save-a-life replied: "Tramadol is a "non- narcotic" opiate. It is supposed to have less addictive qualities to it. Maybe you need a medley of meds. Or maybe you need a new doctor. Sorry."

bassdoc replied: "These drugs are all harmful to you in the long run, and having a prescription in your hand doesnt make you any less an addict. See a chiropractor to stop your pain, then concentrate on quitting drugs. Best luck."

effects of giving 100mg of tramadol instead of 50 mg after accidental double? from what I've searched the recommended dose is 50-100 mg. i just want your sincere opinion.

Hollie Spirit replied: "Probably will be fine. Maximum dosage is 400mg a day. SIDE EFFECTS: Tramadol is generally well tolerated, and side effects are usually transient. Commonly reported side effects include nausea, constipation, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, and vomiting. Less commonly reported side effects include itching, sweating, dry mouth, diarrhea, rash, visual disturbances, and vertigo. Some patients who received tramadol have reported seizures. Abrupt withdrawal of tramadol may result in anxiety, sweating, insomnia, rigors, pain, nausea, diarrhea, tremors, and hallucinations. You can probably expect double the side effects that you normally get."

softspot100 replied: "Telephone your chemist or GP for advice. Patients age and other medication need to be taken into account."

GRIFFINDOR replied: "You can take up to 1000mg without problems. tramadol is ultram it is a mood elevator that is used for pain. It is not an opiod it is simply a analgesic for mild pain. you are safe don't worry I have know patients to take up to six agaist my wishes of course without any problems. Physician’s assitant"

MSprogrammer58 replied: "You will be fine. And you will actually probably get a small buzz. I am forced to take high doses for extreme back pain. I've been taking for over 2 years now. I know people who have taken over 1000 mg in one day. You should be just fine. Mine are prescribed 100 mg 4 times a day. The only side effects I experience is nausea at times, profuse sweating and inability to urinate on occasion. (No I don't have a UTI)"

I am allergic to coedine , is it safe to take tramadol hcl 50 mg? I will have need a hip replacement in Oct. gbut till then the pain is incredible. Am taking davrocet with little result. Doctor suggested tramadol but there is a warning if allergic to coedine. I am allergic to coedine. Can I take the tramadol or do you know of an other safe pain-killer, please.

blamurfen replied: "Yes, but only if you take a triple dose."

Julio L replied: "just tuff it out"

Shibi replied: "Percodan? Vicodin? Ask your pharmacist about drug allergies and cross-reactions -- they know all of that stuff and they can recommend other pain killers for you to have your doctor prescribe."

Michelle O replied: "Ask your doctor to prescribe you a non-coedine based pain killer"

pathfinder replied: "Your doctor is the one who should be advising you on the drugs you are taking. If he is not available, talk to the next best person, a registered pharmacist."

SweetBrunette replied: "It is NOT SAFE TO TAKE tramadol if there is a warning if allergic to coedine. When you were at the pharmacy, why didn't you ask the pharmacist about this. This is the pharmacists' responsibilities as well as your doctors. Did you tell your doctors that you are allergic to coedine? You need to tell your doctors, every time before he/she writes a prescription, because the doctors cannot remember everything."

jewessforjesus replied: "I am allergic to coedine also, but have taken tramadol without any ill side affects. I would talk to Pharamacists about this today. But in my experience, did me good, not bad. You should talk to Dr. too. It all depends on what you were allergic too. IE, allergic to Tylenol 3 and cough meds w/ codiene but did ok with synthetics. Hopes this helps."

Can I mix tramadol 50 mg with norco 10/367 or vicodin 5/500? I am in a lot of pain right now and am unable to sleep. i am wondering if i can mix tramadol 50 mg with either norco which is 10mg hydrocodone and 367 mg acetamenophen or vicodin which is 5 mg hydrocodone and 500 mg acetamenophen. its late and I cant see a doctor right now so please dont mention that cause i already know thats why i went on here. thank you

tysbrown replied: "I wouldn't. Best bet would be to just take a benedryl. It'll seriously knock you out without any interactions. Or a shot of tequila. Or six."

Frak replied: "Absolutely. Tramadol is non-narcotic and contains no acetaminophen. Tramadol is a mild pain reliever, slightly stronger than Tylenol, so for severe pain it's not uncommon for it not to help. Feel free to supplement with either the Norco or the Vicodin. I'm assuming you've taken them before and know how your body reacts to them. So it's up to you which to take as the Norco is stronger."

scott p replied: "Whatever it takes. I was taking 10mg Percosete with my injuries as well as the 5/600 vicodin, twice (or more) a day. Check web md.com. They may be able to give you more info. Pain sucks."

IRSTAS replied: "I don't know but when you find out let me know!!!"

John Weelsen replied: "Drugs will affect tramadol: You may be more likely to have a seizure (convulsions) if you take tramadol while you are using certain other medicines. Do not take tramadol without telling your doctor if you also use any of the following medications: - an MAO inhibitor such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), tranylcypromine (Parnate), phenelzine (Nardil), or selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam); or - an antidepressant such as amitriptyline (Elavil), citalopram (Celexa), clomipramine (Anafranil), desipramine (Norpramin), escitalopram (Lexapro), fluoxetine (Prozac, Sarafem), fluvoxamine (Luvox), imipramine (Tofranil), nortriptyline (Pamelor); paroxetine (Paxil), or sertraline (Zoloft). Before taking tramadol, tell your doctor if you also use: - carbamazepine (Tegretol); - warfarin (Coumadin); - digoxin (Lanoxin, Lanoxicaps); - ketoconazole (Nizoral); - erythromycin (E-Mycin, E.E.S., Ery-Tab); - rifampin (Rifadin, Rimactane, Rifater); - St. John's wort; - quinidine (Quinaglute, Quinadex, Cardioquin, Quinora); or drugs that make you sleepy (such as cold medicine, other pain medications, muscle relaxants, and medicine for seizures, depression or anxiety). This includes vitamins, minerals, herbal products, and drugs prescribed by other doctors. Should avoid while taking tramadol: Do not drink alcohol while you are taking tramadol. Alcohol may cause a dangerous decrease in your breathing when used together with tramadol. Cold or allergy medicine, narcotic pain medicine, sleeping pills, muscle relaxers, and medicine for seizures, depression or anxiety can add to sleepiness caused by tramadol. Tell your doctor if you regularly use any of these other medicines. Tramadol can cause side effects that may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be awake and alert."

Is there any side effects of taking 50 mg of tramadol hydrochloric daily ? I don't have a prescription or a reason for taking this things , but it just relaxes me and makes me cool plZ I want only professional answers ...

amicus curiae replied: "search engine type tramadol hydrochloric/hydrochlorate, and also go to add adverse reactions to the search go to more than 1 or 2 sites. the reason you don,t have.. is the relaxing and being cool! maybe theres a better solution? ugh i went and looked... and i reckon i took them once for arthritic pain.?.side effects can be nasty. 50mg is not a big dose but i think you could end up having a habit if your,e not careful.."

quijibored replied: "Tramadol has a mild antidepressant effect due to the drug's effect on serotonin and noradrenaline levels. If one tramadol daily makes you feel better and you are not trying to abuse the tramadol, then see your physician and either get a better antidepressant or a prescription for tramadol. I would not suggest buying them from a spam pharmacy because when someone tries to self medicate things never work out correctly because their Dr has no medical training. "

Sven replied: "Although side effects from Tramadol are not common, they can occur. The most frequently reported events were in the central nervous system (Migraine, Speech disorders) and gastrointestinal system (Gastrointestinal bleeding, Hepatitis, Stomatitis, Liver failure). Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away: dizziness, headache, drowsiness, blurred vision, upset stomach, vomiting, and diarrhea. If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately: fast heartbeat, redness, swelling, and itching of the face, numbness or tingling of the hands and feet, difficulty breathing, changes in urination, seizures."

tramadol 50 mg effects and safety? played a football game last night, im a running back so obviously took a beating. my back is tensed up and i need to get it loosened up. my dad was prescribed these when he had surgery, and i know theyre weak but how much will it take to loosen up my back?

roos replied: "My advice would be to be careful with tramadol, they are very addictive. Especially for a football player, who will spend a lot of time in pain. Unless the pain is excruciating or out of the ordinary, you're probably better off with aspirin or ibuprofen."
