Celebrex with Tylenol Safe Treatment For Arthritis? FOR ARTHRITIS IN A 96 YRS OLD GAL--Is it okay to take 200mg of Celebrex in the evening with 500mg of Tylenol during the day? Is Aleve more effective? Any other helpful suggestions for extremely painful hand arthritis?

panamm replied: "aleve is more effective than tylenol for arthritis pain, as it has anti-inflamitory properties....but long term use of aleve is suspect, as well, could lead to stomach upset.....ask her doctor for sure, and best of luck!!"

Doc8 replied: "If she lived to 96, only a shotgun can kill her. I am not convinced of the safety of Celebrex. Aleve is probably safer. Try it without the Tylenol that might be rough on her liver."

HippyRay69 replied: "that stuf fis evil stay far away from celevbrex pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"

Can I take Tylenol with Celebrex? Are there interactions? Can I take Tylenol with Celebrex? I have a fever and want to use tylenol to cool down my cheeks and head......my face and body is burning up. I experience fever every single day...... I need to take the Celebrex and tylenol also to bring down inflammation of my lungs, since they are inflamed and bleeding....... Thank you for your help....If you are a doctor, give a good response that I can believe. If you aren't one, then say if you have taken them both before and if so, what problems you had.... Thanks so much.......!!!

ryan replied: "I wouldnt try that."

Deb S replied: "I don't believe you are supposed to. Call any pharmacy and ask to be safe."

devilhue replied: "the best thing for you to do it go on there u can enter any medication u are on and it will list all the side effects and interactions of the drugs. hope this helps"

I have Arthritis....can I take Tylenol Arthritis and Celebrex both? I am 24 years old and take 2 200mg capsules a day plus hydrochlorot for the swelling.

judy replied: "I don't think so"

Eric M replied: "Don't give him both Tylenol and Celebrix at the same time. It's not healthy."

SingingCrab7 replied: "You should call your pharmacist or doctor - do not turn to people on the Internet for questions that could be life or death."

What's good for continuous aching joints and back? I've tried Iboprofin, celebrex, tylenol, etc. Most of this stuff is hard on stomach. Painfull to walk and excersize. Tired of living in pain. Any success with anything out there?

schmitty replied: "I know how you feel. Try going to a pain specialist and/or a rhuematologist. The pain specialist can implant a device that electorically helps control pain or a pump that automatically dispenses medication for continuous pain relief. A rhuematologist can test you and make sure that you are not dealing with a form of rhuemotoid arthritis."

dbgyog replied: "You are unnecessarily and unknowingly taking medicines. First confirm it isn't RA. Do RA and ESR tests. If RA test is positive it confirms but if it is negative and ESR is high then it is RA of negative type(we name it). There is no treatment (medicine) in this world to treat RA! You will have to take pain killers(which kill the patient and not the pain) lifelong. Our recent research has enabled us to treat RA without medicine with 90% success, but you will have to come here."

Keko replied: "See a chiropractor (if you are not used to them it will take at least a few visits to have all the adjustments hold) and a massage therapist to help improve faster. Much pain is from muscles below is an example of what may help (based on headaches). Begin with a couple swigs of molasses or a couple of bananas daily - magnesium (which regulates many things in the body) and potassium (a needed building block for muscles). Drink at least 1/2 gallons of water per day. Running a body low on water is like running a car low on oil is the analogy the head of neurology at UCDavis told my husband about 10 years ago. Now to the cause - muscles - your back, neck shoulders and head have tender spots. They are knots in the fibers of the muscles called trigger points. It makes the muscles tight which makes them press on nerves and other things causing the pain. The cure - start with a professional massage, you will also want to go back over any place you can get to 6-12 times per session up to 6 times per day rubbing (or lightly scratching on your head) every where that is tender until the knots go away. The place where the skull connects to the spine press up under the edge of the skull (to get to those muscles). For more information read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. It teaches what to do and where the pain comes from."

Daphne replied: "This could be because of muscle fatigue or dehydration. Try exercising all parts of your body. It also sometimes is due to disuse atrophy. Try out some home remedies. You can also look for information in the web that give you home remedies. I found this website very useful."

Is it right that my Dr. gave me celebrex for body aches when I have a cold? I told my Dr. that my body aches are so bad at night I can't sleep and he gave me celebrex. This does not seem right to me. I tried all the others. Tylenol, aspirin, alive.. and he gave me this. Is int there something that is not steroidal?

enigmatic1844 replied: "You mean non-steroidal anti-inflammatory? Yes, watch that kind of med it can cause bleeding. He's not treating you very well if pain is not allowing you to sleep. Some type of codeine codone"

I'm taking Celebrex for arthritis, so what to take for a headache? There are all these warnings not to take tylenol or iburprofen or aleve or aspirin. So what can I take?!

greenwichtime replied: "Naproxin Sodium. It's over the counter, but it isn't all that effective. You may have to call your doctor for a prescription pain med if it's that bad."

rachel replied: "Celebrex is an NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug). you should NOT take another NSAID (like aspirin, naproxen [Aleve], or ibuprofen [Motrin]) because that would put you at increased risk for side effects such as stomach ulcers/bleeding. Tylenol (acetaminophen) is in a different class of painkillers & is generally safe to take with Celebrex."

What is the best back pain medication? I want to kow what to request when I go to the doctor's office.? Every once in a while I throw my back out and it hurts like heck. Sometimes lying in bed is not an option. I have 3 kids. A friend has given me flexeril and I have tried aleve, celebrex, and tylenol 3 but nothing seems to help. Aleve works wonders on the headache but nothing for the back. Anyone?

sarah_baby_johnson replied: "There are some good pain meds here are some you might think about...lortab, diludid, oxycodone there are many more but those are good ones."

misspookett replied: "ask your doctor to prescribe you a TENS unit. small portable device that you can carry around with you that clips on your waistband an sends a very small electrical current via electrodes to the back that will completely relax the muscles and it really does work. My back goes out often and its a gods send. That and a hot water bottle unde your back when your sleeping or sitting"

fxxkyocouch replied: "while i cant say what will work for one person or another, i can say that going to your doctor and specifically requesting anything stronger will make you come across as wanting pills for drug related intentions. while what they think really doesnt matter, that might cause them not to give you the medication you need. it might be better to tell them that those medications arent working. since tylenol 3 has codeine in it, chances are if you tell them that that's not working, they'll bump you up to something else anyways."

bryson77 replied: "Using drugs for pain is a temporary fix. You need to see a Dr depending on what issues you are having with your back. You need to get to the source of the problem or you will continue to have pain for the rest of you life. There is a cause that causes the effect. Many back injuries, if left untreated, can be debilitating and permit causing you more severe pain. using RX drugs is only a band-aid and can lead to another problem......addiction. Best of luck"

Czar Walters, Child Saver! replied: "There are some good suggestions here, listen to them. If you go in and ask the doctor, "hey, can I try Dilaudid?" they will immediately think "drug seeking patient!" Now, I know you're not, but I am a pharmacist and see this kind of thing every day. People who know what these drugs are generally only know because they abuse them. The doc can get in serious trouble from the DEA, and it happens all the time. That is why so much pain goes undertreated in the US, but that's another issue... The best thing to do is to go to a chronic pain doc. Simply tell them that Tylenol #3 is not working. They have an arsenal of pain meds, not all of which are opioids, and they will prescribe what they feel is best in your specific case. Not everyone tolerates painkillers the same way. Dilaudid may be good for one person, where Duragesic patches may work better for someone else, and Oxycontin may be better for the next guy... There are many factors when considering which drug to use, and only a doctor familiar with your specific case knows which drug to use. In your case, it sounds like opioids may be warranted, but only temporarily. Lord knows you shouldn't be taking a lot of NSAID's (Tylenol, Aleve, etc.) because they can seriously damage your GI tract and liver and kidneys. The TENS unit is a good idea. It uses electrical stimulation to soothe muscles. Ask your doc about it. The main thing you need to work at is solving whatever underlying problem is causing your back pain. You may need a chiropracator, or you may need surgery. That's between you and your doc. Drugs only provide temporary relief, and they can cause serious problems if used for long periods of time. Correcting the underlying problem, not masking it, is the ultimate goal with any painful injury."

Can Clomid be take with Celebrex? I am currently taking celebrex as needed once a day prescribed by my family doctor and also taking my first cycle of Clomid prescribed by my OB/GYN. She did say with clomid i can take tylenol, but I forgot to ask about celebrex and she is hard to reach because the office is so busy.

justmeinthisworld replied: "you can call your pharmacy or doc- some onlind drug stores have an interaction checker- i think "

Is there any ways of coping with FibroMyalgia? I am looking for new remedies to ease my pain, I currently take celebrex and Tylenol 3 and I am looking for an alternate means to relieve my pain as the pills I take don't seem to work. I am looking for something that is not a drug to keep me high

bumblebee replied: "I find that getting up and moving around is better than staying on the couch under a blanket. Since I have been living in a warmer climate it doesn't bother me as much either."

malcom in the middle replied: "my mama has it and the doctor told her to exercise and stretch alot......shes been doing both and shes been feeling much better, she walks a bit every night and does a few stretches in the morning, she said shes been able to get out of bed easier in the morning since shes started that"

justmeinthisworld replied: "No wonder those meds are not good fro FMS there is no inflammation--therefore Celbrex has limited effect Tylenol 3 works on the pain that goes from the muscles to teh brain--it is the opposite with FMS you need to treat the signals going from the brain to teh muscles it is a disorder of teh central nervous system--the most promising tretaments are neuro in nature--Cymbalta and Lyrica--maybe tramadol"

sideline2084 replied: "The best thing I have found has been massage therapy. I go every 2 weeks for a 30 minute massage and it helps so much because it minimizes the pain and headaches and relieves stress. Other than that I take some Robaxacet or Gravol and they help with the pain and stomach issues and they also make me a bit drowsy so I can get a good night sleep and avoid flare ups."
