Clomid and Metformin Side effects? TTC for 1 year. I have regular periods and ovulate on my own. RE thinks maybe my egg quality is not that great. I am 33. RE put me on Metformin (slow increments of 500mg, then 1000, then 1500, then 2000) due to my blood test showing insulin resistance, but I do not have PCOS. RE also put me on Clomid 100 mg on CD 5-9 as part of the Clomid Challenge test. I started Metformin a few days before AF. Then, increased the dosage to 1000mg. At the same time, I started taking Clomid. I am on CD 7 today. I’ve had several side effects, but it’s the weekend so I can’t call my doctor to ask if I should just stop the medication or take a lower dosage. As I am not in dire condition, I don't need to go to the ER and I will call my doctor first thing tomorrow. Around CD 4-5, I started feeling minor numbness around my lips. Now, I feel minor numbness in my feet and fingertips. Kind of like they are falling asleep. I’ve had a few hot flashes as this is a common side effect of Clomid. Then, last nite, I went into the kitchen and turned on the bright light. I witnessed blurred vision and flashes. Visual disturbance and sensitivity to light are also listed as side effects for Clomid. I am concerned and do not know whether to stop the medication or just take half the dosage. Also, can I just stop the medication? Will I get more side effects for stopping abruptedly? I read through dozens of people blogging about their side effects on Clomid and everyone had different experiences, but some were similar to mine such as the numbness and visual disturbance. Would it interrupt the regime, if I stop Clomid and Metformin right now? Will the side effects go away if I continue the meds? Thanks.

Serious Side Effects of Metformin for PCOS use? My doctor put me on Metformin 500 mg 3 x daily. I actually have a normal blood sugar at 78. I've felt dizzy, had a headache, have passed out (almost fell asleep at the wheel last night). I am not sure whether to stop this or go to an ER if this continues. She tried the pill to control the PCOS but it did not work. I also have a pituitary tumor. I feel awful! Will this go away?

just me replied: "Get your doctor to refer you to an endocrinology practice. Endocrinologists specialize in the treatment of pituitary issues and can help you get the metformin right for your system. I had to do this when I went on metformin, and the Endocrinologist got me on the right dose for my body."

Metformin Er and Glumetza....HELP PLEASE? Do these pills do the same thing? does metformin ER mean Extended Release? I was told by by doctor that Glumetza was metformin just an extended release form of it. Glumetza is very exspensive and if there is something i could take in its place, that would be wonderful. I have tried in the past to take metformin (i dont know which type) but i had severe (but not serious) side effects that did not go away. I am 19 and pay nearly 300 dollars a month for my scripts. I am trying to explore all my options. Thank you for the information and possible solutions! I appreciate it!

sue replied: "they are the same med but may have different fillers so would be different reactions to the "non active" filler ingredients. Extended release is good for me! but not all the manufacturers of the stuff use the same filler ingredients. I have had severe reactions to one of the manufacturers formulations but not to a couple of others. You must ask your pharmacist to check which one you took the first time around, and what the fillers are in this one and whatever else he has in his stocks. If you know which ones give you severe reactions, you can avoid getting those fillers in any other meds or formulations of meds. Does this make sense to you? My bro cannot take the sulfur fillers! he is violently allergic to them. They give me severe gas! I can take anything else tho. oops! forgot to include the Glumetza website:"

robert r replied: "if you have a walmart store near you, go there and talk to the pharmacist, that what you are paying is way too much, for metfomin, should be less than $10.00 per 100 days supply, that is one of the cheapest tabs on the shelf. between the md and the druggist they should be able to come up with something that dont have as serious side effects, good luck"

Tin S replied: "GLUMETZA® (metformin hydrochloride extended release tablets) is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in patients 18 years of age and older with type 2 diabetes. I wonder why you can take the expensive metformin and not the regular. I wonder how much kick back the doctor is getting. Take regular metformin with food. It is so cheap that drug stores cringe to see script for it. And OLD METFORMIN is still today the best drugs for Type 2 diabetes"

Metformin ER question? I was prescribed MET ER yesterday. 500mg once.day. I didn't think that I would be put on it being that my fasting glucose was normal this time around. ANY IDEA WHY? I just started today... any side effects i should be expecting? Has this helped anyone with their bmi or cholesterol?
