Is a program similar to Senuti available for Windows Vista? I know that Senuti is a great program for Mac to pull song and video data from an iPod to put it back on the computer. After my Mac crashed, however, I need to get the songs off my iPod onto my Windows Vista computer. I know that Senuti and iPodDisk are only available for Mac. Are there any GOOD programs like that that can do that for Vista?

How can un-corrupt my ipod without deleting all my music off it? Ok long story. A while back I lost all 40 something GBs of music off my network hard drive when it crashed. Fortunately I had it all saved on my iPod. I downloaded Senuti to my iBook which is an open source iPod management program to transfer the music from the iPod back to my network. However, while it was copying, the iPod was disconnected by another member of my household. The songs still play off the iPod but when I tried to reconnect it, a message read saying, iPod corrupted use restore to reset to factory settings. If I use restore, then all the music will be erased from the iPod and I won't be able to get it back. I have tried restarting the iPod multiple times. What can I do?

Bruno K replied: "Try this (it may work, and I say 'may' because that has never happened to me): From the Desktop, go to My Computer and click once (or select/highlight) on the iPod, (usually drive E: or F:). Go to Tools > Folder Options > View (the tab) > scroll to Show Hidden Files and Folders and select it. Click OK. Look in the iPod drive, and find a folder called iPod_Control and open it. You'll see the Music folder. In it will be folders named F00, F01 and so on. Inside of these folders are your songs. Copy them onto your computer. They will have weird 4-letter names which have nothing to do with their original names, so listen to each of them and rename them once they are in your computer. Then just import them into your library. Later, click the 'uncorrupt' button or whatever that button it's called, and that's it. As I said before, it may work."

My itunes llibrary deleted itself, does anyone know how to get my music back? My computer crashed and my entire itunes library somehow deleted itself. I know there's a program called senuti that you can download for a mac, but I have a pc (with windows xp) and was wondering if there's a similar program. All of the music I had in my itunes library is still on my ipod, but I'm afraid to plug it into my computer, because it automatically updates itself. If anyone could help me, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Arby replied: "Well the only way to put the music back in the libray is to put it on all over again =[[......i havent had and ipod for a long time but if there's a way to change the settings so that it doesnt update itself that would help......other than that just put all the musik back on."

night.leopard replied: "Try uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. iTunes hides its music in some hidden directory on your computer and it might be able to recover it because iTunes can import all of your songs when you install it."

keybowvio replied: "You could try to do a system restore to the day before your system crashed (or the last restore point that your system made before it crashed) to do this: start--> all programs-->accesories--> system tools--> system restore it's worth a try."

Le Zeuddocke replied: "well.... go to your my music folder and check if it's there... if it's not then there's no other way... sorry... one thing you could do is burn all your music on your computer again... gotta start from scratch... or get limewire [but too risky cuz of viruses] [bitlord is more secure but doesnt have all songs...] ya.. sorry bout that... or try pluggin in the ipod. it may say on itunes that it's synchronized with another itunes library so it would ask you if you want to sync or not. then say no. and go to the ipod folder. click view and choose view hidden files and folders and go in ipod control then music and copy the music folder to your documents folder. yea. its more complicated. but ya."

Curuscean replied: "first of all check your recycle bin the i-tunes library might be in there. If you made CD's of the music you can get it back that way. otherwise i dont know how to help you. you might try the apple website."

grace g replied: "dude! that happened to me too! what i did was i opened itunes, hit file, add folder to library and my music (even though it was deleted from my lib) was still on my c drive. hope it works for you! good luck!"

Ipod help please I'm not sure how to change itunes to manual so that it wont pop up right away.? I need to put my itunes on a different computer cause my old one crashed so I downloaded Senuti cause I have an apple to transfer my songs from my ipod to the new one. If i click manual and then press apply will it delete my songs off my ipod or is that only if i press sync. thanks for you help please only answer if your positive or write how sure you are. thanks

Adsertif123 replied: "Well it should ask you to sync with that computer's library, as soon as you transfer your songs from your old computer go ahead and sync with the songs on that computer."

romanticdoodle replied: "Depends on which version of iTunes your using, if your using a new version it should be an option right away, if your using an older version try Prefrences or Options"

Recommendations for getting songs off an IPod and back onto my hard drive? My hard drive crashed and I lost a bunch of songs that I had not gotten around to backing up on CD. They are on my IPod Shuffle. I've asked a few people and did some searches and it seems like I could use Senuti or a couple of other programs to pull these back out of my Shuffle and reload them onto my new computer (a Mac with the latest OS 10.-whatever). Has anyone used Senuti or similar programs? What was your experience? Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Will transferring limewire songs from my desktop to my laptop give my laptop a virus? I've been using limewire to get all of my songs for quite a while now, but my desktop crashed, so I lost all of my music. I got a new desktop computer, but I didn't want to have to replace all of my music again (which was still stored on my ipod). So, I used Senuti to take the songs from my iPod and put it back on iTunes on my new desktop. Now, I wanted to use Senuti again to put those songs onto my laptop, but I was wondering, if those songs on my iPod are from limewire, will it put viruses on my laptop? We don't plan to use limewire on my laptop, just those songs from before. I hope this makes sense... People keep telling me to run a virus scan. How do I do that on the music on my itunes?

EDCvod replied: "It will only transfer a virus if one of the files itself is a virus. Also, if your new laptop has antivirus on it, it will check the file while it is being copied."

brennabaloney00 replied: "I think your laptop should be fine with the songs from Limewire, as long as they all worked on the itunes of your desktop computer and on your ipod."

Lime wire/Frost wire and AVG on my PC? My PC has crashed several times, but I don't know whether it was due to viruses or just because it's old. I got a new iPod but was only able to transfer about half my music from my old one because it wouldn't accept any Lime wire files. So, instead of paying for a program like Senuti to get all my music back, I figured I'd just spend the time re downloading everything from Lime wire or Frost Wire. But I'm worried that AVG won't be enough protection if I download a lot of music files. I know, I really need a mac. :( Help, please. I do try to be careful about what I download, so I'll definitely make sure to stay educated haha. Thank you for the help!

Frank N. Stein replied: "AVG has no rootkit protection so that's not going to help. Also, if you might have viruses from limewire (which you probably do), why would you put more viruses on your pc?? Run a scan with Malwarebytes and SUPERantispyware and clean up your system before you totally wreck your computer. Getting a Mac won't help you either if you download torrents or other p2p programs like limewire/frostwire. EDIT: You can never be 100% when downloading from p2p file sharing sites, anyone that tells you that "they can tell" when something is a virus is misinformed."

billscott92787 replied: "It has nothing to do with needing a MAC. User "education" is what keeps you secure. Uneducated user's download and install things without even taking into consideration what could happen, or what could it be. Such as: "Oh I don't know this person, but LET ME OPEN THIS FILE!" and then BAM infected. So, if you are wanting to get off "free" than that's the chance you take. Just stay educated. If something doesn't seem right then scan your pc. you should be fine."
