Soma Set in Q&A
Twin boys on the way! Which set of names do you like better? Option #1. [Smith is our last name] Keller Fischer Locke Smith Doc Mateo Soma Smith Option #2 Waterford Yates Eternity Smith Lucifer Jax Ike Smith I like uncommon names. Which set do you like better?

Dawn R replied: "Doc NO NO NO NO NO Keller Mateo Soma Smith Jax Waterford Yates Smith Lucifer is the devils name"

rowan20172000 replied: "the first set. Because 1. Eternity sounds like a girls name, 2.Lucifer..do i even have to explain that one? And Waterford i just don't plain like. The first set is better."

Hungry Hippo replied: "I was going to say anything but Doc, but then I read the second name in the second set... If you really like Lucifer, why not try Lucien? It means the same thing (light) without the Satanic connotations... That being said, I like Keller from the first set, and Lucien from the second set (if you wanted to go that way instead of Lucifer..) Otherwise, I like Keller and Waterford (they're from different sets, but lets face it, your names are tres unique!). (PS I was pretty sure this was a fake... but I had to answer because Lucien IS one of my favorite names. We're not using it if we have a boy though... the husband likes Nicholas. ALAS.)"

jeannie_love2003 replied: "1.."

Greta replied: "Keller-- Helen Keller Fischer-- Fisher Locke-- Lock Doc-- What's up, doc? Mateo-- San Mateo, Cali Soma-- Name of a drug in Brave New World Waterford-- Name of a city in Michigan Yates-- ?? Eternity-- Not a good name for ANYONE Lucifer-- Devil Jax-- Jacks Ike-- Hurricane Ike, Mike & Ike"

Angel replied: "None, Sorry,"

sandy c replied: "sorry, i can't pick a set, but i do like the name Keller."

chanley_twins replied: "Are you for real!!! think of your kids! Think about how hard it will be for them to learn to spell their names. Really Lucifer? I'm all for being original and giving kids uncommon names, but really think of their future."

cdog18 replied: "My honest opinion is that I don't like any of them. However I guess #1 is the better of the two. Change Keller to Kellen. Also change Doc to something besides a profession like maybe Dayton."

Jacob's Mommy replied: "I don't like either set...do not name one of them Lucifer though, whatever you do! I do like Mateo and Jax as first names though"

Roseee (OBAMA 08!) replied: "I hate them both. Sorry. Doc= NO NO NO DONT DO IT! Keller= Ehhh. No. Jax Ike is okay. Eternity is a girls name. Yates...no. Waterford reminds me of crystal. I'm sorry if i sound like a brat. I'm a twin though! :) Good luck!!!"

Kiki replied: "Instead of Lucifer, how about Lucian? Instead of Doc how about Rune? I like Matteo a lot. Doc sounds like a nickname not a given name. Instead of Doc how about Mac or Mack? Kellen Fisher Smith & Lucian Matteo Smith would be my suggestion."

Shayna P replied: "sorry i like some uncommon names. I don't like the two middle names thing that is cliche to me. but remember you can like whatever name you want don't let others change your mind. for boys i like joel, erik, kevin, vince, henry, <333 shayna"

I love Chicago! replied: "no"

Magic1908 replied: "If I have to choose, I choose the 1st set. Neither group is great but I can't choose Satan, oh sorry, Lucifer. I hope this is just a rough draft."

Anthony's mom replied: "umm this is fake. I can see right through you! she joined TODAY people, obviously bored."

Gabe replied: "I don't really like any of those, so I guess #1. You shouldn't name your son Lucifer..."

Jessica Y replied: "Don't like any of them. Keller - too much like 'killer' Doc - as in "What's up?" Yuck Waterford - oh dear no Lucifer - I wouldn't recommend naming your child after Satan, regardless of your religious persuasion There's uncommon and there's just plain wrong. Those names are wrong."

Microscope without instructions? I recently bought a used microscope for my children. It is only missing a few things that I can replace(slide covers, etc), but it is also missing the instruction manual. It came with a micro-viewer/projector/drawing device and I have no idea how to use it. Can anyone help? Does anyone have instructions they could scan and email? It is a Soma Micro-Science deluxe microscope lab set. Thanks I've tried to search for their website or another site with info and can't find anything.

Sore trapezoid muscles, stiffness, pain, heat, and a stiff neck. What is this? What do you think this is? I have a history of rheumatoid arthritis diagnosed with symptoms and a + RA factor. Last weekend I noted severe stiffness in my upper back going to the very back of my neck with pain radiating down both arms to mid deltoid. The pain doesn't go down the entire arm just mid deltoid. I am also noticing a slight weakenss on the left side but it isn't enough to drop things ect. I am adding a picture of the tattoo on my back ( this was done over a year ago... but it marks the spot where I am having pain stiffness and aburing sensation.... My doctor set me up with Soma and an anti inflammatory. I feel a bit better, but the weakness on the left arm is still present and ever so slight. My fine motor skills aren't affected, my arm feels week when I raise my arm over my head for example. My MD felt I have some sort of injury.. but I have had not trauma that I am aware of to that area. What to you think this is?

heatedwirez replied: "i think you should speak to a chiropractor who will most likely treat the cause of the problem, and not just the pain with pain medication"

Pierre replied: "I can't see your tattoo, but many patients are infected with unsterilized, reusable tattoo instruments (Hepatitis A, B, C, AIDS, etc.). Some forms of arthritis are linked to a chronic hepatitis. If you have a viral infection of the liver, antiviral agents are needed. Rheumatic diseases are the result of a defective gene and collagen inflammation, often from a chronic infection. Collagen is present throughout the body, from the eyes, skin and joints to the heart. Hence, the multiplicity of symptoms, depending on the location of the most affected internal organs or body parts. I have had seronegative rheumatoid arthritis for 27 years. The telling signs of seronegative rheumatoid arthritis are the following: - Joint pain in the feet (or cracking ankles) in the early 20's or late teens; - Fatigue, especially after a moderate exercise like a 30 minute walk; - Blood test showing a negative or low level of Rheumatoid factor; - Joint deformities of the fingers, after a few years, a specific sign of rheumatoid arthritis; - Consecutive X-Rays showing bone erosion after a year or two of illness, a consequence of rheumatoid arthritis; - Generalized arthritis, involving the whole body; - Elevated levels of C-Reactive protein and Sedimentation rate, as evidenced in blood tests. NSAIDs like Voltaren, COX-2 inhibitors like Celebrex, acetaminophen like Tylenol, and codeine are all used to control inflammation and relieve the pain of arthritis. Regular exercise like walking, biking and swimming is also helpful for most patients. Make sure that you are not overweight as carrying too much weight can only increase the pain of arthritis in the supporting joints of the hips, knees, ankles and feet. For any form of arthritis, you should consult an Orthopaedist who will order blood tests, joint scans and X-Rays to better diagnose the type of arthritis from which you suffer. The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (http://www.aaos.org) maintains a public online directory where you can find the address and phone number of orthopaedists who belong to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Orthopaedists are listed by geographic location and family name, inside the USA and in most countries. The membership directory of the AAOS is located at: Lyme disease could be a possibility. Ask your doctor to test you for the bacteria causing Lyme disease. Are there any other cases of arthritis or rheumatic diseases among your relatives? Chronic forms of arthritis are usually prevalent in families where a defective gene is passed on by parents to their children. There are a few hundred types of arthritis and rheumatic diseases. The good news is that science is progressing rapidly in its understanding of rheumatic diseases. Antibiotics are now used to achieve full remissions for at least 40%, if not 65% of patients with rheumatoid arthritis. For more info, please join our group at: "

IplayadoconTV replied: "Could be a herniated disk."

wantsshy replied: "First I think you need a cervical and thoracic MRI I suspect Spondylosis is a possibility, or even a herniated cervical disk maybe c-6 or even as low as t-1... It could also be a brachial plexus injury... Also be sure and get an ANA Sed rate and Western Blot blood test... check for Lyme's and of course for other rheumatic disorders ( like Lupus etc. ) Consult a neurologist and also your Rheumatologist"

Help!!! I've had muscle spasms in my neck/shoulders for over 3 years and I'm getting desperate!? I'm 36 y/o, female. MRI's show severe degenerative disc disease in C-4/5 to C-6/7 as well as kyphosis. I have had numbness down my arms and fingers, as well as severe radicular pain in my arm, which led to removal of the disc at 6/7 last year. The spasms have not improved at all, and I'm beginning to wonder if it is caused my something other than the structural abnormalities. I also have problems with headaches, blurred vision, joint "cramping"(mostly hips), occasional swerving gait, and arm weakness. I have had EMG's which showed delay to the upper arm muscles and CTS, and I have also been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia (although I only have a few trigger points) Physical therapy and chiropractic visits always make the spasms much worse, and muscle relaxers only work half the time (I take Soma). Anything I do sets them off. I have a history of autoimmune reactions, and I'm wondering if it could be in that category. I have had Hashimoto's and Guttate Psoriasis due to strep. Any ideas?? For "meinthisworld"- I'm not sure what your response was intended for, other than to pick apart my question. I never claimed that fibro was autoimmune and muscle spasms can be caused by a number of things other than "a problem with the muscles themselves". Was there an answer in there somewhere, or are you the site's chief question editor??? Is there anyone else who can offer something useful? You know, like an answer?

Cindy G replied: "Spasms seem to run in my family. I have Trigeminal Neuralgia, spasms in the face. I get them in the colon too and just started getting them in the bladder. My daughter gets them in her head, so bad that she goes straight to the hospital. We also have fibromyalgia and I read in my book , we are prone to get spasms. All the symptoms you are having relate to fibro. I have had them ALL but the headaches. I'm going to give you the names of 2 books that tell you all this. Fibromyalgia & Chronic Myofascial Pain a survival manual by Devin Starlanyl and Mary Ellen Copeland The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook Self treatment guide for pain relief By Clair Davies You only need a few pressure points to have fibro. Please get these books esp the first one. Cost about 20.00 Good luck to you."

MeInThisWorld replied: "Jsut to clarify- Trigger points are in myofascail pain syndrome- TENDERPOINTS are in Fibromyalgia they are 2 different things Fibromyalgia is not beleived to be an autoimmune disorder-and spasms aren't a part of teh diagnosis as it is beleived to eb a disorder of the Central Nervous System-- Spasms are caused by a problem with the muscles themselves.."

The FED bought What ?? The Fed Bought What? By John Paul Koning Posted on 8/13/2007 | Subscribe or Tell Others | The US Federal Reserve injected $38 billion dollars into the economy via temporary open market operations this Friday. This is the largest number of temporary repurchase agreements (specifically, one business day repos) entered into by the Fed since September 11, 2001. Back in 2001, Fed purchases of treasuries exceeded $30 billion for the four consecutive days after the collapse of the World Trade Towers, total temporary injections into the banking system amounting to a whopping $295 billion. What is significant about Friday's repurchase agreements is not so much their size, but the securities that the Fed exchanged for money: mortgage-backed securities (MBS). Indeed, the entire $38 billion dollar injection went to MBS purchases, the largest open market purchase of this asset type ever conducted by the Fed, smashing the previous record of $8.6 billion set back in September of 2005. See chart, above.[1] The type of mortgage-backed securities the Fed bought are created when bundles of individual mortgages originated by commercial banks are guaranteed by quasi-governmental agencies such as the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (Freddie Mac) and Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae), then split apart and sold to investors. Homeowners pay interest on these mortgages, interest payments flowing through to the final holders of MBS. For those who have gone through the Economics 101 treatment of the Fed, the sudden appearance of MBS in Fed open market operations might seem odd. Professors have always taught that when the Fed expanded the money supply it did so by buying government bonds and bills. Indeed back in September 2001, the Fed provided liquidity by buying what it has always traditionally bought; treasury securities. So why is the Fed buying MBS now, and when did it acquire the authority to do so? First a note on how open market purchases work. The Fed uses what are called open market operations to control the Federal Funds rate, the rate at which large commercial banks lend cash to each other overnight to fulfill their reserve requirements to the Fed. The Fed sets a target for the federal funds rate and defends it by either withdrawing or injecting money according to the requirements of commercial banks. It injects by buying securities from the banks with freshly created checking deposits, or money. This injection increases the reserves commercial banks hold, allowing these banks to expand credit to businesses and consumers. The Fed withdraws money by selling securities to commercial banks and receiving money as payment, thereby reducing reserves and removing credit from the system. The Fed conducts both temporary open market operations and permanent ones. Permanent, or outright operations, inject cash and remove securities from the banking system forever. The Fed keeps the securities it has acquired outright in the System Open Market Account, aptly initialed SOMA (in Aldous Huxley's Brave New World, the drug soma is produced to keep citizens in a steady state of happiness, much like the Fed's SOMA). Temporary operations, the ones entered into this Friday, involve 1–14 day repurchase or reverse repurchase agreements whereby the Fed purchases (or sells) securities in return for cash with an agreement that the commercial bank on the other side of the deal will buy back (or sell back) the securities after a period of days. Temporary reverse repurchase operations, the short-term withdrawal of money from the banking system, are rare. The Fed has only engaged in 16 reverse repos since late 2000, versus 1247 repurchases. This imbalance means that the Fed is almost always augmenting commercial bank reserves by buying securities, allowing the banks to use their larger reserves to expand credit and borrowing. Thus the rate defended by the Fed is lower than the rate at which the commercial banks would be willing to lend each other if the Fed did not exist. Back to Friday's MBS purchases. Historically, the Fed's open market operations have been confined to US Treasuries. Clauses 3 to 6 of the Guidelines for the Conduct of System Operations in Federal Agency Issues ensured that Federal Reserve operations could not engage in temporary purchases of securities issued by federal agencies like Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae.[2] In an August 1999 Fed meeting officials temporarily suspended clauses 3 to 6, giving themselves the authority to freely purchase Ginnie Mae–, Freddie Mac–, and Fannie Mae–issued MBS on a provisional basis without hindrance on size and timing. The reason given: it needed full reign to inject money into the banking system in preparation for the year 2000 crisis.[3] The period for which the temporary suspension was to extend was from October 1, 1999 through April 7, 2000. The year 2000 crisis proved a dud. But rather than removing the temporary suspension on buying MBS, the Fed renewed the suspension in 2000 and 2001 before permanently striking off clauses 3 to 6 in 2002. In recent Fed documents, only clauses 1 and 2 are listed. This storyline may sound familiar to Fed watchers. The Fed was founded in response to the crisis of 1907, and had its ability to increase the money supply dramatically increased during another crisis, the Great Depression, where gold convertibility was suspended. $26 Since the Orwellian rewriting of the Guidelines the Fed has been gradually expanding its MBS purchases, which reached a crescendo this Friday. This (relatively) new power of the Fed is startling given the current liquidity crisis prevailing in the mortgage markets of late. By openly stating its willingness to buy thousands of mortgages and temporarily to expose itself to the financial health (or lack thereof) of the homeowning public, and doing so when the rest of the world is shunning them, the Fed is propping up mortgage markets, and thereby the housing market. This despite the fact that open market operations are not supposed to support individual sectors of the market or channel funds into issues of particular agencies[4] While the purchases are only temporary — the cash must be returned by Monday — one wonders how long before the Fed grants itself the power to buy MBS permanently. Either way, the Fed's response shows that it is worried about the growing mortgage crises and willing to do anything to buy its way out of it. Unfortunately, by buying up MBS and propping up the market the Fed will only cause more harm than it already has. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- John Paul Koning writes for Pollitt & Co, a brokerage based in Toronto, Canada.

upside down replied: "Wow."

Mr.Wizard replied: "The Fed has bought a lot of sub-prime mortgages? Doesn't this double the loss if the mortgages default? Maybe the Fed has finally bought a one way ticket to the 'attention of the public' and will get some bad publicity for a change... Maybe the media will have to cover it when these mortgages go 'bad' and the Fed tries to issue more securities to cover the debt it has to the banks that it is trying to support."

Confused about boyfriend and his addiction...wisdom thrown this way is appreicated? My boyfriend is 41 and i'm 20. We first started dating through a friend that introduced us. We laughed and spent the day together at their house hanging out, and being with my friends whom i considered family. He'd come over stay the night with me, go to work the next morning, and then come back over maybe 3 or 4 days of the week whenever his friend and boss wouldn't need him to stay over night working. (all confirmed working nights by the way). Well a month or so later he asked me to move in with him and his two friends which have a 3 year old together. Well they're both addicted to Soma's and Pain killers badly. The guy takes atleast 10 and 10 in one set. She's not as bad due to the fact that she's got to take care of her daughter. Futhermore, when we first started dating, he only drank beer and not often at all. Everyone insisted that he's slowed down since he met me. (from being at the bars everynight to a beer or two a week). Now he's taking Soma's because he says that his back has been hurting due to working heavy machinery all day. He's become hateful, short temperd, mean and wanting to call me greedy for not giving him money for his addiction. Granted we live there with our friends, if we can even call them that (they're very sneaky and shistey), and don't pay rent but, i've bought food, cigarrettes (we all smoke, some more that others), anything you can think of. To include an important detail, we're staying in a motel due to the hurricane, paid for by FEMA. 5 people in a room with two beds, 1 bathroom and a mini - refridgerator, and one microwave and tv. I don't know what to do and i don't want to leave him. I do not do drugs! want to make that clear. My only addiction is diet coke! His friends "common law husband" is a pipefitter/welder. he's been out of work for about a month now and has been going to different companies "testing" for them, i'm not sure if he's really making an effort but, he's got a wife and kid to support even if me and my boyfriend were not there. His wife is a Stay - at -home mom. Used to work for a lawfirm but, decided she wants to take care of her kid. Now that she's grown tired of it, she'd like to work again but, i dont see any effort being made. I told her there was a position for hire where i work and she has yet to fax her resume after 3 weeks now. My boyfriend run and operates heavy equipment and machinery, used to work for a plant but, childsupport has got him so down! When we met neither one of us had a dime to our name. I was waiting to go into the service (Navy) and he was working petty jobs to have spending money in his pocket. We were happier then. ...than we are now. Now it's fighting every time there's an opening for an arguement. It could be from living with them in close quaters but, they are all greedy. Money is money to me.. it doesn't go with you when you die, so what's the fuss about. For an ex. last night i rubbed his feet ( would never normally do this for ANY guy i've dated) with loition and his knees. So that he'd relax. I knew and saw that he'd already taken about 10 Soma's and roughly 3 pain killers at most i'd say so i was just trying to dodge a fight and not give anyone a reason to be pissed. First thing this morning...he's up wanting to argue. After he holds me all night and kisses on me(messed up on pills or not) it's just been a habbit so to speak of his that he does and feels most comfortable with. Just to state, in my opinion not for the fact that i am with an older man, age is just a number, sure it has impact on maturatiy levels but, it's not hard to keep up when you're 20 years old, in the Navy and have 2 years of Nursing School under me. I believe that my intellect level superceeds his but, he heads up more wisdom than I. I might be oblivious to the fact that he may not be the one for me but, i'm not a quitter and i do want to make it work. He's hard to talk to now without fighting with and very irritable. (which is a side effect of taking the Somas). Not deffending anyone... simply stating more details. All of your answers are much appreciated! Thank you.

debbied3mis replied: "Call the Dr. that is prescribing them. Speak with him, if the result is not what you would like walk away and do not look back. You are young and have your whole life in front of you. Do you really want to live it like this? This is a very dangerous addiction that is often overlooked. You have a great head on your shoulders and are recognizing a problem. Do not let someone else pull you down!"
